The Taknitic Calendar

The Taknitic Calendar was a calendar used by the Damnites, however it was most popularised and used by the Taknitic Empire and its successor states. It is a solar calendar.

Months

There are ten months, with 9 months of 36 days, and the final month varying between 32/33 days. Every four years, a leap day is added to the end of the last month, like in the Julian calendar.

The months are usually referred to numerically, however sometimes Damno-Xenic, that is, pronounciations of Common Damnite in other languages, pronounciations for the numbers are used instead. This is typically restricted to poetry.

Week

The week in the Taknitic calendar is 19 days long. The first day gets called the white day, the 6th day the red day, the 10th the yellow day, the 15th the blue day and the 19th is called the black day. Other days are either called numerically or in relation to the coloured days (far before, near before, near after, far later).

Alignment

The epoch for the Taknitic calendar is 1 I 20,000pF, being the foundation of the Taknitic Empire, also being a white day. Every year, the first day of the first month is as close as possible to the spring equinox. One notable alignment is that of 1 I 20,275 pF with 21 III 1,925 AD. A converter is in the works.
